Champions League semifinals 2008
In the semifinal stage four of the best European clubs fought against each other for the right to participate in the most elite football final - the Champions League. Unfortunately for Barcelona and Liverpool this was not their year and they lost to Chelsea and Manchester United. Here are the scores of the semifinals. In the match played on the 22 of April, 2008 Liverpool and Chelsea couldn’t decide on a winner and the match ended 1-1 with the goals of Dirk Kuyt (43 minute) for Liverpool and John Arne Riise’s goal in the 90 minute for Chelsea. The second match played between Liverpool and Chelsea was on the 30th of April, 2008 and it ended with a win for Chelsea 3-2. Didier Drogba scored twice for Chelsea in the 33 and 105 minute and Frank Lampard scored once in the 98 minute. For Liverpool accurate were Fernando Torres (64 minute) and Ryan Babel (117 minute). In the other part of the scheme where the clubs of Barcelona and Manchester United were competing for a place in the final, things were not as productive. Their first match was on the 23rd of April, 2008 and it ended 0-0. The second match which determined the finalist was played on the 29th of April, 2009, where Paul Scholes scored a goal in the 14th minute and brought the victory for Manchester United.
